Notes from the war…

The war is on, the fighting rages

will I or won’t I?

I have to choose to obey You

pressure, ridicule, condemnation, guilt

I still can’t seem to choose You, “strengthen me, Lord! ”

no help for the flesh to win

“Lord, I need you!”

get up, fail, get up, fail… weary and tired from trying

From my foxhole I cry:  “Grace me, Jesus, to do what I can’t.”

a hush falls on the battlefield, something just happened

all eyes shift to see

He’s now fighting, not me

Imagine…

Wherever you are sitting right now, Jesus walks in and sits down beside you. With those amazing eyes connecting with yours, He says: “Tell me everything”

There may be people we can talk with, but no human can do what Jesus can do with what we feel, need, and would ask. Holy Spirit shows us/opens to us (John 10) how to pray, shows us what to pray, opens the door of revelation to be received (answer coming back to us), illuminates scripture to stand-on…

Colossians 2:6 talks about living in vital union with Jesus, bringing to Him our daily cares and concerns, and trusting Him with each day’s troubles. I don’t think this means the laundry list of items I’d disconnectedly rattle-off in prayer. Prayer has never been so much of an open-heart connection with Jesus until I started to just lay it all out there bare for Him to see, just telling Him everything, not holding back or spinning it to sound better than it is. I felt a peace and an unseen resolution to all that I shared – and He said something…

Jesus is there with you now friend and the awesome invitation sits next to you and says: “tell Me everything”

All of your thoughts, feelings, needs, wants, hurts and heartaches – He already knows, but willingly sharing all that is on our hearts, is an opening-up to Him that is a whole different way to pray and is a matter of trusting the One who saved us, to now also, see us through each day.

Wait’ll you hear His response 🙂

Come Out of “Egypt”

8 That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage;  9 And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land;
10 And I said unto you, I am the LORD your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice. (Judges 6:8-10)

In this life, we become bound to things, circumstances try to pull us down, caught-up in addictions, thought patterns or beliefs that tie us up and stop us from moving forward, so many things that are aimed at oppressing and depressing us in this life…however you want to say it or whatever your experience is with bondage and slavery in this life – the bible makes it clear that the Lord brings us out of it all! (Not one day in heaven, but here and now.)
But also check out the end of verse 9: “and gave you their land”…
Those places within us where we are bound-up, where we need deliverance and healing, is land/ground the Lord wants to take and give back to us. Why wouldn’t we want all of our self to be set free? Why would we want to let the enemy have that territory in us?
Sadly, the flesh is like the Israelites, it cries to go back to slavery (Egypt). We will defeat our own self, if left to our own self, every time. But, the Lord can save us, even from our own self.
We aren’t to fear facing: the issues/addictions/thoughts/bound places in our lives, because the Lord is bigger and fully capable of releasing us. As said in Matthew 6, we are not to “worry for our life”. We just bring it to Jesus, opt to come out of “Egypt”, and take that ground back.

Frank Sinatra/Rita Springer Mashup

Intimacy with the lover of my soul. He meets me, sitting to talk with me in the little room I’d hidden myself away in, to have a one-on-one conversation. He longs to be known, longs to be close.  Oh, how very little I know of Him. Oh, how I must know Him and His love, because nothing means anything in this Christian walk without knowing His Love, receiving His Love, and giving His Love.

Me:
I’m desperate in seeking
Frantic believing
That the sight of your face is all that I need

Him:
I will say to you
I can only give you love that lasts forever
And the promise to be near each time you call
That’s it’s you that I adore,  for now and evermore

Me:
Oh, I don’t understand your ways
but I will give you my song
I’ll give you all of my praise

Him:
There are those, I am sure, who have told you
they will give you the world as a toy
All I ask is for these arms of mine to enfold you
And that you’ll let me love you
With a love time can never destroy

Me:
Oh, how I believe you
I know, You have held on to all my pain
I know, your arms are pulling me closer
Pulling me into your ways
Your love, it’s all that I need

Him:
If you’re wondering what I ask in return, dear
You’ll see that my demands are small
Say it’s Me that you’ll adore, for now and evermore
That’s all, that’s all

Metallica/Jason Upton Mashup

The Limitless life…
flying off the edge of reason,
forever trusting in who You are…and nothing else matters

I lived my life for a while
Asking for signs to believe in
But You played defense in my trial
Quietly hanging there bleeding
While I cast lots for just pieces of you
Pointing my bloody finger, at anyone but me
You paid the debts that I owed…

Trust, I seek and find it in you
You are so close, no matter how far
Couldn’t be much more from the heart…o, I’ve never opened myself this way

Every day for us something new
Open my mind to this different view
All these words, I don’t just say, I pray…
no nothing else matters, but You

The only limits on us in this life are the ones we have created or believed exist. What do you believe holds you back? Take it to God and ask Him if it’s true. Ask Him what He can do with that/ or to remove it.

Who do you believe in? Believing in self – the limit is our flesh, we’ll go no further. Believing in God – there’ll never be a limit.

Bon Jovi/Peter Gabriel/Rend Collection Prayer Mashup

Ever feel thirsty for the Word? Ever feel the need to be closer and crave to feel His presence again? When you pray, has your heart ever felt overwhelmed to go beyond and expand the borders of your where you are at with the Lord? Ever hear a prayer in a song?

Praying without ceasing we are living a prayer. In His Eyes is the Light and the Heat of the Fire of Holy Spirit.
(This is a prayer mashup of: “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel, “Broken Bread” by Rend Collection, and “Livin on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi)

Livin on a prayer, Lord, I long to see all that is
In Your eyes
Please take my hand, and I know we’ll make it

Love, I get so lost sometimes
The days pass and emptiness tries to fill my heart
I dream of running away
I get so tired…working for survival…when will the grand façade burn?
In Your eyes
I am complete

I want to touch the heat
I want to walk in the light
I see in Your eyes

I will not fight you
Take me past the line that my heart draws
Take me beyond the laziness of my thoughts
Lead me further than I’ve gone before

In Your eyes
Without noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside
I am abandoned to Your call

Lord, please don’t let there be any part of me that is untouchable, unreachable
Take my hand, and I know we’ll make it

I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive
Love, I get so lost sometimes,
But whichever way I go
I come back to the place you are

In Your eyes
I see the resolution of all the fruitless searches
In Your eyes
I am complete

Hitting Pause

So many people to buy for, the list grows…toys, clothes, perfume, gift cards galore…wrapping paper and bows, boxes, bags, and tissue papers of red, green, and gold…there are all kinds of gifts to buy, wrap, and give. Scraps of paper, bits of tissue flying and swirling ribbons like Edward Scissor Hands took over the wrapping.

Hitting pause on the flying Yuletide debris for a minute, here’s a “gift” to consider:

gift in hands

Did you know, as a follower of Christ, you are a gift to the rest of the Body and to the earth?

Your gift, your call, (Position/Title) is “a service of gift” – it’s to “do the service of the children of Israel” = to serve the rest of the Body.

Check out the verses below:

Numbers 8:19

And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.

Numbers 18:7

Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest’s office for everything of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest’s office unto you as a service of gift:

As “kings and priests” we are the same “gift” as the Levites were to the congregation.

Revelation 1:6

And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Revelation 5:10

And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
