8 That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; 9 And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land;
10 And I said unto you, I am the LORD your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice. (Judges 6:8-10)
In this life, we become bound to things, circumstances try to pull us down, caught-up in addictions, thought patterns or beliefs that tie us up and stop us from moving forward, so many things that are aimed at oppressing and depressing us in this life…however you want to say it or whatever your experience is with bondage and slavery in this life – the bible makes it clear that the Lord brings us out of it all! (Not one day in heaven, but here and now.)
But also check out the end of verse 9: “and gave you their land”…
Those places within us where we are bound-up, where we need deliverance and healing, is land/ground the Lord wants to take and give back to us. Why wouldn’t we want all of our self to be set free? Why would we want to let the enemy have that territory in us?
Sadly, the flesh is like the Israelites, it cries to go back to slavery (Egypt). We will defeat our own self, if left to our own self, every time. But, the Lord can save us, even from our own self.
We aren’t to fear facing: the issues/addictions/thoughts/bound places in our lives, because the Lord is bigger and fully capable of releasing us. As said in Matthew 6, we are not to “worry for our life”. We just bring it to Jesus, opt to come out of “Egypt”, and take that ground back.
