Once again, wisdom and common sense need to be prayed for our government leaders.
In response to the horrible acts of violence, laws are being written in an effort to control guns. But the very definition of a criminal is that they don’t obey laws. The very acts we’ve witnessed of late are not acts of a criminal, but acts of evil done by mentally and/or emotionally unstable people.
I’m not a fan of guns, but the gun itself was not the killer. It can do nothing without a human pulling the trigger.
Control is the symptom, fear is the root issue.
No one wants to admit or face the uncontrollable fact that we can’t control random acts of violence. So, they make laws trying to control the gun, blame the gun, because ultimately we can’t control evil outbursts. We don’t know who will snap or when or where.
What can we do about fear? The illusion of control seems to keep us content for a while, but control is only that – an illusion, which only leads to ruination. It allows our human minds to think we’ve got the answers, that we can’ handle it – it keeps us from addressing the root issue of Fear and keeps us from seeing our need for a Savior.
1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Only the perfect love of Jesus casts fear out of our life and why would that be so? Because only Jesus comes into our life with the many promises of: “I will be with you” I will cover you as with a shield” “I will never leave you or forsake you” I will be with you in the day of trouble” “I will protect you” “I will help you”
Once again, we need to pray for Jesus to be welcome back into our Nation and into the hearts of its people.
