“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Gen.1:1
During worship time today, we sang the phrase: “The Beginning and the End”. Then, in my mind, I could see an image of his hands – one hand on one side of the Cross, the other hand on the other side of the Cross. I could see His hands holding the Book – the Bible. I could see one side being Creation to the other side of Revelation. The whole of life’s story fit between those two hands, the entire sum of creation between those two hands. It was like a ball, a circle without end how it all circled in my mind.
God is the Beginning and the End of all things, the Author and the Finisher of our Faith, the God who first reached out His Hand to create us, then reached out the other Hand to save us…
The Beginning and End of all things is captured within the pages of our Bible. Holding one side we hold the beginning of time, and holding the other side we hold eternity. The Beginning of God reaching down to Man was one hand of Jesus – spanning across His Heart of Love to the hand of Victory over sin and death… it is complete. There is nothing outside of God, outside of those two hands, outside of His Being. Life, our lives, the world, and all that happens in this world are wrapped in His capable hands.
