Hope and a Future

I was up in the middle of the night, because I couldn’t sleep. Even before I got up, worship songs played through my mind, and after I got up I could feel the Lord’s presence, so I prayed some. After a while, I laid back down in my bed, and I heard so plainly in my spirit: “Happy Birthday My child. I had a plan for you even before I brought you into this world”.  There is so much hope packed into that one sentence.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

There are people out there saying that life has no purpose, that we bear the image of apes enough to have evolved from them, that there is no plan for our life because it’s all just random, and that we exploded into existence from some big bang, but that is not what God says about us, or over us.

Psalm 40:5
 Many, LORD my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.

Our little lives are not random, we are not unseen by God. He has a plan for each of us, a glorious plan with hope and purpose. And yes, we do bare an image – the image of the Creator (Gen.1:26) who created us individually unique, intelligently designed, and perfectly suited for our purpose. Our days were written in His book before we existed. God does see your life, God does have a plan for your life, not to harm you, but to give you hope and a future.

Psalm 139 (message version)
 1-6 GOD, investigate my life; get all the facts firsthand.
I’m an open book to you;
even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking.
You know when I leave and when I get back;
I’m never out of your sight.
You know everything I’m going to say
before I start the first sentence.
I look behind me and you’re there,
then up ahead and you’re there, too—
your reassuring presence, coming and going.
This is too much, too wonderful—
I can’t take it all in!

7-12 Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit?
to be out of your sight?
If I climb to the sky, you’re there!
If I go underground, you’re there!
If I flew on morning’s wings
to the far western horizon,
You’d find me in a minute—
you’re already there waiting!
Then I said to myself, “Oh, he even sees me in the dark!
At night I’m immersed in the light!”
It’s a fact: darkness isn’t dark to you;
night and day, darkness and light, they’re all the same to you.

13-16 Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I’d even lived one day.
