Here’s Your Sign

I saw a sign along the road today, “Your sin will find you out”. Honestly, my first thought was to rip it out and chuck it over the hill, but I admit that was wrong. Immediately I started thinking on why that sign bugged me so much, and my thoughts turned toward what God says. It bothers me because the heart of God is not to condemn people!

For some reason we take on ourselves the jobs of Judge, Jury and hangman when it comes to the sin in other people’s life. But the Good News is this: God is not sitting in Heaven consumed with worry over sin, or fretting that people sin – He dealt with the complete debt of sin for all mankind through Jesus’ death on the Cross. Jesus paid the debt for whatever sin has been, is being, or will be committed till the end of time. God is not concerned with sin anymore! Does this surprise you?

The Good News of Jesus is not good news at all if it’s about condemning and accusing people of sin! The Good News of Jesus is His love and His Victory over sin for us! We can’t beat sin, that’s why Jesus had too! He loves us, each of us, so much that He died to make sure our debt was paid and that we would have victory! He LOVES us, is the Good News!            1 Cor.13 says that Love covers a multitude of sins! Love covers folks! What is it to cover? It is the opposite of exposing, ridiculing, condemning, rejecting… those are not the language of LOVE! Jesus wants to teach us what love really is. Covering others with love allows them to stay in Jesus’ capable hands, giving them grace to go through the changing we all go through, and unifies us.

As the body of Christ we have to stop being so concerned with straightening others out!! We have to stop beating up the unsaved people for living in sin. The two people I spoke of meeting in the post: Brace Yourself, had taken enough abuse in this life. They didn’t need me to jump on board and beat them up for not living right, they needed Love! They needed a shoulder to cry on, a friendly person to tell them they didn’t deserve to be treated that way by the abusers in their life, and that there was another life possible, someone to care that they had a warm place to spend a snowy night. Abuse never touched the heart of anyone with the love of Christ!

Romans 13:8
[ Love Fulfills the Law ] Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.

Scripture says that to cling to the law is death, but to cling to the Grace of Jesus is Life. As the body of Christ we are to dish out heaping helpings of LIFE and Love! Speaking life into people’s lives, touching them with the Love of God in helps and service! Jesus asks us to be His Hands and Feet, He hasn’t (nor ever will) ask us to condemn or judge.

I think we forget sometimes that we are saved by Grace, not by living a clean life. We love Him, not because we have fantastic hearts, but because He first loved us. There is no room to boast for any of us!  The only boasting we can and should be doing is in the AWESOME work of Jesus in our lives!! That radical transformation that took place by His Mighty Hand! The way His power is so gentle to change in us what we didn’t even know was hurting us. To remove 30-year-old roots of anger and bitterness!! He does AMAZING things in our lives and that is what we are to pass on!! How, through Jesus, we’ve been made new! Let’s pass on the Extreme Love we’ve been given, as we are commanded to do, and let God do His refining work in the life of others.
Romans 8:
1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.

What was my new idea for the signs? To place a red sash over them with GRACE written on it.

Jesus is Risen, and in rising, carries the power to transform lives in His Healing Wings.

  1. This is a wonderful message for me as well for the body of Christ. It would indeed set of free to persue Christ but it would also alow us to concentrate on the reason Christ Jesus came to this world in the first place. That is help bring souls to Christ, heal the sick, & set the captives free.

    1. Hi Dad!
Love it that you replied 🙂 You’ve been my faithful reader since I started!
Yes, concentrating on those three requests of Jesus would change the world. It will come, the church will change, and we might live to see the fruit of unification in the Body of Christ!

      I love you,
      Amy
